Blast from the past

As you can see today's post includes something that I have not included in a post in a very long time, a picture of the run I went on this morning. I had been itching to run for a little while and told myself when I went to bed yesterday that I would do just that today. When my alarm went off I did hit the snooze button once but finally got up and went on my run. This was the first run that I have been on since running the Tom King classic a few weeks ago. Now that I am finished I have to say I remember why I enjoy running so much after about the first mile or so everything went away and I just enjoyed the exercise. I did have to keep an eye on my time as I didn't want to lose track of how long I was out there and end up late for work. In the end I finished running three laps around the neighborhood for a total of a little over 5.5 miles and a good amount of calories burned. I figured after not running in so long that it would have been harder for me to do than it was but the run was pretty easy and I finished wishing that I had time to do one more lap or at least a half lap around the block but I did not. About mid afternoon yesterday I was just feeling flabby and gross from some reason and that feeling pretty much lasted throughout the night so had I not run in the morning I am sure it would have only gotten worse and I would have been pretty upset with myself. That feeling is gone now that I have gone on the run. One thing I did notice this time around that I had not noticed in my previous runs is just how much you use your core muscles to keep good form, I am pretty darn sure that my abs were engaged the entire run, which I isn't a bad thing. Tomorrow I will be spending the morning getting my Warrior on, and taking another run at the Bob Harper Yoga DVD (and the Ab workout, time permitting) before going on another run on Friday morning. Then I will be taking the weekend off, doing another Yoga on Monday, taking Tuesday off, and getting right back into another cycle of P90X. As you can tell I have my fitness planned out to past the middle part of the year. I am still working on getting the build that I want and I am confident I should be pretty close to it when I finish this second cycle of P90X. While I was running I even made a plan on how I am going to mix things up on this cycle to add even more muscle confusion, The first week I will be doing the Bob Harper Yoga Abs rather than Ab Ripper X and will do the Yoga X when yoga day comes. The next week I will do Ab Ripper X and the Bob Harper yoga, I plan on continuing to switch it up each week until the end of the next cycle. I figure that will keep things fresh and make sure I don't get tired of the same workouts week after week. On Friday's run I am going to make sure not to hit the snooze button so I can at least get another half lap in distance which will give me a six mile run to finish the week. Since we are going to be short staffed on Friday I think getting in my post run head space is going to be a good idea. Keep an eye out tomorrow to see if my second run at being a warrior goes any better than the first.
