Perhaps not as good as I thought

Well today was another cardio day and I decided that I would run the way I wanted to run rather than the Bill Phillips run. If you recall when I went to the rec center this week I ran 30 minutes at 6.5 MPH and felt like I could have totally done another 30 minutes without any issues. That brought me to today's decision to run for 40 minutes at 7 MPH. Well, I didn't quite get there, as it turns out that pace is a little more difficult than I thought since it is faster than my normal comfy pace. I did stick it out and run 3.1 miles before slowing it down so I did a 5K in about 26 minutes or so then I did a slower pace until I got to 30 minutes. Trust me it was the most sweating I have done since I was running 8 miles in the mornings and I feel great now although my toes and the balls of my feet are tingling a little bit. I figure I will keep up with the pace that I am on when I decide to do the runs that I like and just try and push the distance a little more each time. I will either try and get to a further distance or longer amount of time before slowing down. For the next treadmill run I plan on going for the longer distance. I figure since I was able to get to 3.1 miles today before slowing down the next time I can push it the extra .15 miles and make it to 3.25 miles before slowing down. Once I see how I feel when I get to the 3.25 miles I will make the decision if I need to go for a longer amount of time or a longer distance on the next one. I know it is exactly how Bill Phillips wants it done but it is still reaching to increase the intensity and pushing to get past the possibility of hitting a lul in the cardio routine. After doing the race for the cure I realized that some of my ability to run distances has gone away and I want to get it back before I do another 5 K, the 10 K I want to do in April and finally if I am all trained up for it the Music City half marathon the next time it comes around.I posted my plans on the Body-for-Life forum that I am on to see their opinion of my plan and look forward to seeing what they have to say about it. After tomorrow I will be halfway done with week 8 and be entering the final lap of the 12 week program. I still don't think I am going to have the body that I envisioned when I started this but at least it will be a good start and I can move onto the next fitness routine after the holidays. Tomorrow my goal is to see how the exercises I am adding weight to on the upper body workout goes and to finish the 12 reps on the high points that I have not quite made it to yet. All this means is that I am going to be pushing really hard and expect to be all kinds of sore come turkey day morning. Keep an eye on tomorrow's post to see how it all goes down.
